HISTORY OF AGAPE FELLOWSHIP MINISTRIES
While living in Virginia during 1994-1997, the burden for ministry in the Stafford area weighed heavily upon Elder Vincent C. Allen's heart. He knew at that time he was being called to ministry in this area. Although it was not the season, the Lord eventually brought him and his wife back to fulfill the Lord's call.
For preparation, they were sent to Naples, Italy to begin Agape Fellowship in May 1998. When they arrived in Naples, they assisted ministries in the area. Recognizing this was not the will of the Lord; after prayer, fasting and discussing the vision, Agape Fellowship was birthed. Its birth was in Naples, but it was conceived out of almost fifteen years of service to the people of God; as well as, countless hours of praying and seeking the face of God — and most importantly, “destiny.” They sought the Lord on behalf of the communities in Naples, and the enormous need to have a place of worship for those who would soon become a part of the local community on the newly opened military housing installation.
Elder Vincent and Felicia Allen returned to Stafford in May 1999, under the providence and mandate of the Lord, to fulfill the vision HE gave three years earlier. They already knew what the Lord had placed in their hearts; it was a matter of seeking Him for the timing, not the task.
In August 2000, they opened the doors of Agape Fellowship Ministries, Stafford, Va in Anne Moncure Elementary School. They continued ministry in the school for seven years until June 2007, where then began having service at 24 Perchwoord Dr., Fredericksburg, Va; and in September 2007, they had their first service in the current location, 26 Perchwood Dr. Fredericksburg, Va.
The Lord has given them the vision for the Agape Worship Complex, which will consist of a place of worship with office spaces, classrooms, an educational facility, and a gymnasium facility that will house the Community Development Center. The vision for the Agape family will enable the church to be directly involved in employing many in the Rappahannock community, which includes Stafford, Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania counties at minimum.
The plan is to fulfill the vision through teaching and preaching the gospel of Christ. As the Lord increases the “family”, the ministry can expand to other areas. Currently, Agape is involved in the following ministries within our community: Food distribution with the Fredericksburg Food Bank, Giving Tree in partnership with Toys 4 Tots, as well as Outreach with several local churches, organizations and events.
The mission of Agape Fellowship is “Winning the Community to Christ; One Family at a Time,” as found in St. John 15:13 and 21:15-18. In John 15:13, Jesus explains true love is laying down your life for someone else. And, in John 21:15-18, He asked Peter if he loved (agape) Him; Peter answered with the word “philo,” which is brotherly love. Jesus said, if he “loved” Him, feed His lambs. We are seeking to exemplify “Agape” and “feed” the people of the world with the Word of God! Our endeavor, here at Agape, is to minister the Word and serve humanity. Our vision is not “new,” it is the same vision Christ died for— to do the will of the Father!
